Bulk actions are the difference between updating four hundred records and updating four hundred records one at a time. The filter is the dangerous part, not the action.

Read the count before you confirm
The record count is your safety check. If a filter you expected to return forty rows returns four thousand, the filter is wrong — stop and fix it. Almost every painful bulk mistake was visible in the count beforehand.

Work in bulk

1. Filter precisely
   Build the filter, then read what it returned. Spot-check a few records to confirm they are what you meant.
2. Check the count
   Compare it to what you expected. A surprising number means a wrong filter, every time.
3. Choose the action
   Tag, update a field, reassign an owner, or follow. Reassignment is the one people most often want after someone leaves.
4. Start small if you are unsure
   Narrow the filter, run it on a handful, check the result, then widen. Much cheaper than undoing.
5. Export when you need it outside
   Export the filtered view for reporting or a migration. Remember the export is customer data and should be handled accordingly.
6. Delete only when you are certain
   Deletion is the one bulk action worth pausing hardest on. Confirm the filter twice.
