Workspace defaults

The settings that apply to everyone — what they control, who can change them, and which ones are worth getting right before anyone starts entering data.

Updated August 2026

Workspace settings are the ones that apply to everybody, which makes them both powerful and easy to get wrong quietly. Most of them are set once and never thought about again — so the once matters.

Who this is for

Workspace admins.

Before you start

  • Admin access to settings.
  • Agreement with whoever else cares — these apply to the whole team, not just you.

Workspace-level means everyone
These are not personal preferences. Currency, timezone and working hours apply across the workspace and are read by background jobs as well as by the interface, so changing one affects colleagues and scheduled work, not just your own screen.

What to set

  1. Currency
The fallback for money-bearing records that do not carry their own. Deals, quotes and products inherit it, and it has to be a currency the product supports end to end.
  2. Timezone
Drives the clock for every request and background job in the workspace, so it decides what a due date or a scheduled send actually means.
  3. Working hours
Optional. Configure a window for all seven days or a different one per weekday. Leave it unset and the workspace counts as always open.
  4. Your own profile
Separate from workspace settings, but worth doing at the same time — your name and avatar appear on everything you touch.
  5. Review after the first month
Once real work is flowing, it is obvious whether these were set right. Fixing them early is much cheaper than later.

What you get

  • Consistent money display across the workspace.
  • Dates and scheduled work landing at the times people expect.
  • An explicit statement of when you are open, if you want one.
  • Fewer per-record corrections, because new records inherit sensible defaults.

Frequently asked questions

Are these per user or for everyone?

For everyone. They are workspace-level settings read by the interface and by background jobs alike.

What happens to existing records if I change the currency?

Records that already carry a currency keep it. The setting is the fallback for records that do not specify one.

Who can change workspace settings?

Admins. That is deliberate — these affect everyone's data and everyone's schedule.

Do I have to configure working hours?

No. Unset means no constraint, which is read as always open.
