The audit log

A read-only record of who changed what and when, with field-level before-and-after values, filters, configurable retention and CSV export.

Updated August 2026

The audit log answers the question that comes up after something goes wrong: who changed this, and to what? It records the change with the old value beside the new one, so the answer is specific rather than approximate.

It cannot be edited from the app. That is the entire point of it.

Who this is for

Admins, and anyone answering a security or compliance question.

Before you start

  • Permission to view audit logs.
  • Some idea of what you are looking for — the filters are what make a long log usable.

Read-only by design
There is no way to alter or remove an entry from inside the application. That is deliberate: a trail people can edit is not evidence. Retention is configurable and a scheduled job prunes entries past the window, so the log stays useful rather than growing without limit — but nothing inside the window can be quietly changed.

Use it

  1. Open the audit log
It covers changes across contacts, deals and companies, plus key settings changes.
  2. Filter to narrow it down
Slice by user, by record, by action type, or by a window of time. A whole-log scroll is rarely the fastest route to an answer.
  3. Open an entry to see the diff
An update entry shows each modified field with the old value beside the new one, so you get the specific change rather than just the fact that something changed.
  4. Export what you need
The filtered view exports to CSV, which is what you attach to an internal review or hand to whoever asked the question.
  5. Set retention deliberately
Choose a window that matches your obligations. A scheduled job prunes anything past it automatically.

What you get

  • A specific answer to who changed what, and when.
  • Field-level before-and-after values rather than a vague change record.
  • An exportable trail for reviews and compliance questions.
  • A log that cannot be edited from inside the app.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is recorded?

Changes across contacts, deals and companies, plus key settings changes. Each update captures what changed, with the previous and new values.

Can someone delete an audit entry to cover their tracks?

Not from the application — the log is read-only by design. Entries leave only by ageing past your configured retention window.

How long are entries kept?

As long as your configured retention window, after which a scheduled job prunes them. Set that window to match your own obligations.

Can I export it?

Yes. Filter to what you need and export the current view to CSV.
